Hidden Safety Problems Led To Mine Disaster

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — The Mine Safety and Health Administration revealed today that Massey Energy kept two separate logs – one official, and one internal – in order to hide numerous safety problems from government inspectors prior to the April 2010 explosion that killed 29 miners in West Virginia.

Journalist Chris Togneri from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review  joins KDKA Radio’s Paul Rasmussen and Rose Ryan-Douglas on the NewsRadio 1020 KDKA Afternoon News to discuss how the company managed to fool inspectors, as well as the legal implications of such a move.
