Update: Still No Decision From Jagr

Update (6:54): Jagr was supposed to make a decision between 330 and 4 PM. We’re hearing that his flight to New York was delayed. His agent, Petr Svoboda, maintains that Jagr will have an announcement upon landing.

We appear to be about 5 hours away from Jaromir Jagr making his decison.

Jagr’s agent, Petr Svoboda, announced that Jagr is currently enroute to the United State and will make his decision shortly after arriving.

Jagr is due to arrive in New York around 3:30 PM.

Svoboda also says that he talked this morning with Detroit GM Ken Holland.

He’s not expected to speak with Pens GM Ray Shero again before Jagr decides.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Today is reportedly decision day for former Penguins Player Jaromir Jagr.

Several media outlets, including TSN in Canada, are reporting that Pens’ GM Ray Shero has made his final offer to Jagr’s camp, and now it’s up to number 68 to decide whether he wants to end his career where it started here in Pittsburgh.

The offer is reportedly a one-year deal somewhere in the $2-million range.

Jagr’s agent, Petr Svoboda, told 93-7 the Fan last week that Jagr wanted to return to the NHL to play with the world’s elite talent again.

Yesterday the Pens signed winger Pascal Dupuis to a new 2-year deal worth $3 million.

What a positive addition to the team. Come on Jaromir – sign, sign, sign!

  • Brian

I couldn’t sleep last night. Waiting in anticipation for Jags to come back to the Pens!

  • Jeeperz

Do we really need him? Im not a big fan of the possibility.

    • jeff

Jeeperz I know what you mean. If we get the youger version of Jagr, the motivated one it’s a great signing. If we get the mopey dying alive version……..well…………

  • jeff

Jagr said “…I will play for league minimum for Pittsburgh because I owe my hockey life to mario.” What’s the delay in the decision then. Pens made one year offer, supposedly close to 2 mil. If he’s true to his word then his agent should not even be talking to Detriot and or Montreal. Shero won’t get into a bidding process – here’s what we can do Jaromir….take it or have fun in Detroit. The only reason I see him flying here is to attend a news conference with Shero when he is presented with his “new” 68 jersey.

      Speak for yourself!

  • Ryan

Can still hear John Barbero saying is name after a goal. It’s a shame he isn’t around to do it once again. C’mon Jags, say you’re coming back to the ‘Burgh!!

  • Nick Manning

If he signs with Wings he will be hated even more, sign with Pens all will be forgiven

    • Brian

      That’s a FACT!!!

      • Ryan

I still will never hate him. But it will be disappointing.

Rumor has it that a Russian newspaper is reporting that Jagr is indeed signing with the Pens. Both he and Shero denied the rumor. But, usually where there’s smoke, there’s fire, so hopefully, the paper is correct.

Hi everybody. Let me tell you few fact which you dont know in USA. Firstly. Dont trust what russian newspaper wrote. He is Czech.I think and belive that money is NOT the most important think in Jaromír Jágrs decision. He recently bought hockey club in the Czech republic where he started as a little boy. He safe the club. And as a chairman he has got looots of work to do at the moment. He probably needs to know if he can start the season a little bit later and to stay at home. Why he will be hated even more? He never sale his house in P, for example and never spoke about P.P. in bad way.

This idiot is bluffing, and Pens fans are sucking it up.

Really, he needs think about it this long? Why would we want him back? Jagr was a problem in the locker room and had an attitude when he left. Let him sign with another team. He can drag their locker room down, let that team take the hit against the cap and we have $$$ to sign guys that actually want to play for the world class NHL team we’ve got in this city.

Typical immature Jagr..Was suppose to land at 3:30 and now its past 11 and his agent doesn’t even know where the smuck is…

Give the money to Rupp and Kennedy and don’t worry about this world class idiot.

Listen to your self people. He is not in debt who told you this. You dont have a glue what kind of jokes he is able to make. If he would be in debt why he hase got still house in P. Hm. Why he can support his home club for many years (we are talking about 20 million czech krone a year). And this typical inmature Jagr was on the aircraft when JFK was in trouble. Why would you want him back? Becouse he is still one of the best. Like it or not. By the way-no one in the czech team speak about him like your people. I wonder why. Wish you the best.
