City Celebrates Hines & Kym's "Dancing" Win With Rally
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Fans of Pittsburgh Steelers star Hines Ward jammed Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh for a noon rally today to celebrate the wide receiver and his dance partner, Kym Johnson.
The duo won the Mirror Ball Trophy last month on the reality television show, "Dancing With the Stars."
Mayor Luke Ravenstahl has declared today "Hines Ward and Kym Johnson Day" in the City of Pittsburgh, and hundreds of fans - dressed in black and gold - flocked to the City-County Building Portico.
The celebration was emceed by Steelers announcers Tunch Ilkin and Craig Wolfley. Fans were also encouraged to bring their Terrible Towels.
There was also a dance-off contest judged by Hines, Kym and Mayor Ravenstahl. The contestants submitted videos to the city. The top three, determined by the 'Likes' they received on the City of Pittsburgh's Facebook page, competed. The winner got their picture taken with the pair and the trophy.
Fans were also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the Salvation Army.
