Jefferson Hills Crash Kills 1

JEFFERSON HILLS (KDKA) – One person was killed while attempting to flee from police in Jefferson Hills early Sunday morning.

According to police, an officer observed a vehicle on Route 885 fail to negotiate a turn in the road around 2:15 a.m.

As the vehicle traveled toward the officer, it crossed into the southbound lanes and partially off the road.

The driver was able to regain control of the vehicle and accelerated by the officer before turning onto Miller Road.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued to accelerate at a high rate of speed.

After losing sight of the vehicle, the officer came upon the wreckage of the vehicle about a mile down Miller Road.

The vehicle overturned against an embankment.

The unidentified driver was partially ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was no one else in the vehicle with the driver.
