Search Resumes For Missing Fayette Co. Boater

HENRY CLAY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - The search for a missing boater on the Youghiogheny Lake resumed Sunday morning.

On Saturday, a boat carrying four people overturned. Three people were rescued and two were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W. Va.

Numerous fire departments and dive teams, including one from Greensburg, used sonar to search the water for the missing man late into the night.

Scott Grahn, from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, said late Saturday that the mission has turned from a rescue operation to a recovery.

Witnesses said they observed the boat make a turn at a high rate of speed, which caused it to overturn.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers has closed the Youghiogheny River lake spillway recreation area and boat launch so crews can conduct the search.
