5 Arrested After BB Gun Shootings In Hill District

HILL DISTRICT (KDKA) - Three minors and two adults were arrested Tuesday morning in connection with three drive-by BB gun shootings in the Hill District.

"Pap, pap, pap, pap. I thought it was more fireworks," Thomas Means said.

Means, 61, had just finished walking his dog on Bedford Avenue around 6:15 a.m. when he was shot in the leg.

After Thomas realized he was shot, he came back over to his porch, called 911 and waited for police.

Thomas gave police a description of the Chrysler they were believed to be driving.

Police Commander George Totsky with Zone 2 said a woman was also shot in the right leg on 5th Avenue near Pride Street.

There was also a third report of someone being shot at.

"My officers spotted the gray Chrysler 300 up on Kirkpatrick Street with five occupants. They stopped the car. Inside the car they found four CO2 pistols with extra BBs and extra gas canisters," Commander Totsky said.

The five people are being charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy and recklessly endangering another person.
