Woman Injuried In Harmar Township Crash

HARMAR TOWNSHIP (KDKA)--A woman was injured in Harmar Township Friday morning and taken to UPMC Presbyterian with lacerations to her head.

A tractor-trailer and car were involved in the accident.

KDKA's Heather Abraham spoke with Linville Forbes, the truck driver, who said the accident occurred when he tried backing his truck off of Freeport Road and onto Jefferson Street.

Forbes' truck was jackknifed in the middle of Freeport Road as he was backing up. Forbes said everything was clear and no one was coming as he backed up, but out of nowhere a car slammed into the trailer.

"I didn't see her because I was backing up, you know, watching the back of the trailer, and then she just came down on this side and slammed right into the trailer," Forbes said.

Forbes was not injured, and police say the woman was alert when she was put into the ambulance.

Freeport Road and Jefferson Road have both been reopened. Harmar Township Police say the accident is still under investigation, and they couldn't say yet if charges will be filed against either of the drivers.
