PITTSBURGH ((3-7 THE FAN) — Pittsburgh Tribune-Review columnist Dejan Kovacevic joined 93-7 “Late Shift” host Chris Mueller Friday night to provide some historical perspective on catcher Mike McKenry’s three-run home run, which pushed the Pirates to a 7-4 win over the Chicago Cubs at PNC Park and ultimately left them just one game out of first in the National League’s Central Division.

Dejan offers a scathing indictment of Major League Baseball as a whole for not giving the amazing 2011 Pirates, in his opinion, the national attention they deserve.

A longtime Pirates beat reporter prior to his current job, he measures McKenry’s blast against some of the more memorable moments in the decade-long history of PNC Park.

In addition, Dejan explains to Chris what the mood in the ballpark was like Friday, and speculates on what the significance of McKenry’s moment will be in the future of this team.
