1 Man Killed In Sewickley Township Crash

SEWICKLEY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man is dead following a violent one-vehicle crash Saturday night in Westmoreland County.

The victim has not yet been identified; however, state police say he was a 28-year-old man from Monongahela. He was ejected from the 1987 Ford Mustang and pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials report that the accident happened around 11 p.m. on Mars Hill Road near Wolfe Lane in Sewickley Township.

According to state police, the car was headed northbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control while navigating a left curve in the road.

State police say the car crossed both lanes, left the road on the west side and ended up in a yard where it hit a small dirt mound and went airborne. When it hit the ground, the car struck two brick flower beds and came to a rest on its roof.

The vehicle sustained severe damage to the driver's side.

State police in Greensburg continue to investigate the accident.
