PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Tens of thousands of people will fill Heinz Field later this week — but not for a sporting event or a concert; all of those people will be descending on the North Shore in the hopes of making their dreams of becoming a singer come true.

Auditions for “American Idol” are set for this Friday; but if you’re planning to attend, you’ll need to register before then!

As many as 30,000 people are expected to begin lining up at midnight tomorrow night to take part in the two-day registration process on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by all-day tryouts on Friday.

Forget your 15-minutes of fame; each participant will have just 15-seconds in front of a show producer! Those lucky enough to get the elusive “Golden Ticket” will have a chance to flaunt their vocal stylings before the show’s celebrity judges.

While just a few of the thousands of hopefuls will be chosen, the city will have yet another chance to shine in the national spotlight.
