Mixing Up Some Summer Cocktails

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Are you looking for the perfect summer cocktail to enjoy during these hot, sticky months?

Erika Joyner, the lead mixologist at the popular new restaurant Salt of the Earth, visited the set of Pittsburgh Today Live to share some fresh new recipes for any summer party or just a relaxing day at home.

Maple Summer
1/2 oz Flor de Caña 7 Year Grand Reserve Rum
1/2 oz Maple Simple
1/2 oz Lime Juice
1/4 oz Gin
Muddled Ginger
Hard Shake
splash of Bone Dry Peach Cider

Surprise
2 oz Russian Standard Vodka (infused with habanero)
1 oz Blood Orange Puree
1/2 Campari
1/2 Molasses Simple
1/2 Lemon
Hard Shake
Dredging of Cocoa Powder

CAMUS Punch
1/2 Bottle CAMUS Elegance VS Cognac
1/2 Bottle Scotch
1 Cup Peach Schnapps
1 Cup Lemon Juice
1/4 Cup Curacao
Juice of 6 Large Grapefruits
1/2 Cup of Sugar
Zests of 6 Large Grapefruits
1 pint of Raspberries, and 3 sliced star fruits, 3 lemon slices

  • Muddle zests and sugar for five minutes, set aside for 30 minutes
  • Add lemon and grapefruit juice, removing the zests
  • Discard zests and add liquors
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve; then add slices and raspberries
