Officials: Teen Accosted In Bathroom, Philadelphia Man Charged

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Allegheny County Sheriff's Office says a Philadelphia man is facing charges after a teenager was allegedly accosted in a bathroom at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Investigators say 21-year-old Dwayne Ferguson is facing several charges including robbery, unlawful restraint, resisting arrest and false identification to law enforcement.

The Sheriff's Office says a Taser was used to take Ferguson into custody Friday afternoon outside the Convention Center.

According to authorities, the incident was reported around 4 p.m. when a 17-year-old told a sheriff's deputy working an off-duty detail at the Convention Center about the alleged incident in a bathroom.

The teen told officials that he managed to kick the suspect, gave them a description and which way he got away. The Sheriff's Office says the teen also said the suspect claimed to have gun.

Officials say security at the Convention Center spotted a man matching the suspect's description leaving the building.

Sheriff's Office officials report the man refused to show his hands and continued to walk away once outside, and that's when the Taser was used to take him into custody.

Ferguson was taken to the Allegheny County Jail to await arraignment.
