Robbers Fail To Break Into Westmoreland Co. ATM

HUNKER (KDKA) – Police are investigating after robbers attempted to break into an ATM in Westmoreland County overnight.

According to police, the incident happened at the First Commonwealth Bank in the 800-block of South Center Avenue in Hunker.

The suspects sprayed the ATM’s video camera with black vehicle undercoating. The suspects then attempted to break into the machine with a variety of prying tools.

The suspects also used a 20-pound sledgehammer to break off the face plate of the machine.

They were unable to get any money out of the machine, but caused $20,000 worth of damage in their attempt.

Police are asking anyone with information to call State Police in Greensburg at (724)-832-3288.
