Daniel McCutchen: National Attention Not Changing Pirates' Approach
PITTSBURGH (93-7The Fan) -The Pittsburgh Pirates will be on national television two times in three weeks.
ESPN will broadcast the Pirates' July 25 game against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field, and the Pirates are scheduled for the Fox Saturday Game of the Week on Aug. 13 against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.
But Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Daniel McCutchen, who joined the Fan Morning Show Wednesday, said the national spotlight isn't affecting the Pirates.
"We know what's going on, seeing the stuff in the clubhouse, but I don't really think it's changing how we're approaching things," McCutchen said. "We're still trying to take it a game at a time and keep playing good baseball."
Pirates pitching coach Ray Searage is in his first full season at the position, and McCutchen said he has helped simplify pitching.
"(Searage) makes it one game at a time, one pitch at a time and really not look too far into the future," McCutchen said.
