Teenager Killed In Brighton Twp. Accident

BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- An overnight accident along Interstate 376 in Beaver County claimed the life of a local teenager. Police say Carlee Houghtelin, 18, died when the car she was riding in veered out of control after getting struck by another vehicle.

The accident happened shortly after midnight in Brighton Township. According to police, Andrew Marvich, 23, of Beaver Falls was trying to pass the victim's car when he veered into her lane, struck the back of her car and sent both vehicles off the road.

Houghtelin's car veered off the road, rolled over into a ditch, went over an embankment and struck several trees.

Houghtelin died at the scene. The driver of the car she was riding in, Jessica Kolback, 18, suffered only minor injuries.

Marvich was not seriously injured.

While police are still investigating the fatal crash, authorities believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
