Police Chase Suspect Knocks Porch Off House

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- An early morning police chase ended when the suspect crashed into two homes in the Esplen section of the city.

According to police, the incident began around 4:30 a.m. in McKees Rocks when two officers tried to stop a man for reckless driving.

Instead of pulling over, though, police say the driver sped off and eventually crashed into two houses along Slope Street.

The vehicle first struck a column off the front porch of one home, causing the porch roof to collapse, and then struck the home next door.

Authorities say the driver got out of his vehicle and tried to run away; but an officer used a Taser to stop him.

The unidentified suspect was taken to the hospital for evaluation as a precaution.

McKees Rocks Police Chief Robert Cifrulak told KDKA that they're still compiling the report to determine what charges the suspect will face.
