Fire Damages Home In East Liberty

EAST LIBERTY (KDKA) – Firefighters were called to a house fire in East Liberty Sunday afternoon.

A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the structure in the 5500-block of Black Street.

When firefighters entered, they found fire and smoke inside.

They were able to contain the fire to the kitchen, but it was the latest call for firefighters who have endured extreme heat over past few days.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire and the Red Cross is assisting them.

The damage is estimated at about $20,000.
