Officials Investigate Overnight Stabbing In Carnegie

CARNEGIE (KDKA) -- Authorities continue to investigate a fight and stabbing outside of a local bar in Carnegie overnight that sent one man to the hospital.

Officials say the incident started at the Emerald Ice Bar on West Main Street where the fight spilled outside into the parking lot.

"I just don't know. It was one big old brawl; they just kept going at it," said Michelle Harvard, a witness. "They would get up, go at it - fight some more, one guy fell into the dumpster."

Harvard watched stunned as the rumble went on and on. It all started, according to police, inside the bar.

"It just kept going on; there was only one female, and from what I understand, they were fighting over the one female," Harvard added.

"The victim had words with the two actors, so we're not quite sure what that was about," said Sgt. Jeff Kennedy, of the Carnegie Police Department. "Two guys jumped him in the rear lot."

During the fight, police say the victim was stabbed repeatedly in the back and side.

According to police and witnesses, as the couple drove away to get help - a brick was thrown.

"Somebody threw a brick through her window, smashed out the passenger side window of the car," said Sgt. Kennedy.

The victim made it to his home on Carothers Street and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital. He underwent surgery this morning and was last reported in good condition.

Meanwhile, police say the bar is familiar to them.

"We have had calls throughout the years, fights and different activities at this bar," Sgt. Kennedy said.
