GREENSBURG (KDKA) — An accident this morning involving a tractor trailer and bicycle near Route 30 in Westmoreland County has claimed the life of one person.

According to emergency officials, the accident happened in the City of Greensburg on Mount Pleasant Road.

Authorities have identified the bicyclist as 48-year-old Susan (Abby) Belli of Greensburg.

She was an avid bike rider who was training for a cycling event, but she wasn’t obeying traffic laws as she slammed into a tractor trailer.

“The bicyclist had passed a couple vehicles on the berm and collided into the side of the tractor trailer,” State Trooper Steve Limani said. “The bicyclist was then propelled underneath the tractor trailer and subsequently run over by the tires.”

According to police, the woman was wearing earphones for her iPod and may have been distracted.
