Nate Byham Out For The Season

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Former Pitt tight end Nate Byham's 2011 NFL season is finished.

Byham was carted off the San Francisco 49ers practice field this afternoon with a serious injury to his left knee.

Byham, who jumped for a pass, immediately yelled in pain after landing on the knee, which appeared to buckle.

Reportedly, Byham immediately received encouragement from fellow tight ends Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker.

As a rookie, Byham caught five catches for 27 yards.

The 6-foot-4, 264-pound Byham, 23, known primarily for his blocking ability in college, had flashed excellent hands during the first practice of training camp Friday
