Police Investigating After Vandals Drain Derry Pool

By: Trina Orlando

DERRY (KDKA) – Police are looking for some vandals who drained the water from a Westmoreland County pool last week.

Officials believe the vandals jumped the fence at the Derry Community Pool and began pulling levers in the pool house until the water began to drain.

Ben Wright, executive director of the Ligonier Valley YMCA, which manages the pool, said it only took about eight hours to refill the pool and business was not interrupted.

It cost around $5,000 to refill the pool, which will be covered by insurance.

Police are continuing their investigation.
