Share Wedding Memories With New Smartphone App

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Are you planning a wedding?

There's a new wedding app, which was developed here in Pittsburgh that helps your guests and shares photos of the special occasion.

When Jessica and Roger Loughney of Bloomfield planned their May 21 wedding on Mount Washington, Jessica, a mobile application designer, had a brainstorm.

"I was in full wedding mode, so I was thinking, 'Oh, it would be really cool if I could do this,'" Jessica said.

The idea is a wedding app that guests and others could download on their smartphones. The app is unique for every wedding couple, and it's now available to the public.

The app is called "Our Wedding App."

"Basically, it adds so much function to your wedding, directions, hotel information, taxicab information, text messaging," Roger said. "And the best part is you have every single person's pictures from your wedding on your phone. We ended up with 300 pictures from our wedding."

The bride and groom get a secure code to give their wedding guests and friends to download the app, which provides easy directions to churches and receptions, and even their wedding registry.

But seeing real-time pictures taken by friends at the wedding is what Jessica loves the most about the app.

"As people were dancing on the dance floor, I had pictures of the ceremony, pictures of the reception, dinner, speeches, and then I had pictures of the people on the dance floor all being shown at my wedding," she said.

The pictures were instantly available to those who could not attend.

"We had some people in Spain and in Germany who obviously couldn't make it, and they watched the wedding live pretty much online," Roger said.

"There's a web address where all the pictures are posted," he said. "It automatically refreshes every time a new picture is put up there."

The app is pricey for the wedding couple. It costs just under $300, but once purchased and customized, it is free to all those to whom the couple gives the secure code.

"I really got to see how much fun my guests were having at my wedding as well," Jessica said.
