Fire Breaks Out At Industrial Building In Indiana County

BLAIRSVILLE (KDKA) -- Several firefighters had to be treated while fighting an overnight blaze that destroyed an industrial building in Indiana County.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. at HMS Industries on Route 22 in Blairsville.

Authorities say the building was completely destroyed except for a small office area in the front.

Crews report that the fire was difficult to fight because it got into the roof and spread quickly.

Also, once it was in the roof it started moving through triple-coated rubber material that is part of the overall structure.

Officials say several firefighters were treated due to the heat and humidity. One was taken to the hospital but is expected to be fine.

The fire forced crews to close down Route 22 eastbound for several hours.

The State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
