Meek Not Close To Returning

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Last night's game was a prime example of how much the Pirates miss the 2010 version of Evan Meek.

Instead of being able to go to a reliable 8th inning setup guy, manager Clint Hurdle was forced to use Daniel McCutchen to start the inning.

While McCutchen has performed well this season, he's not a setup guy, Meek is.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear Hurdle will be getting Meek back anytime soon.

Meek remains in Florida rehabbing his right sholder and doesn't appear he'll be ready to return for another 3-4 weeks.

Meek is scheduled to throw a 35-pitch bullpen session today and Monday. From there, he's scheduled to throw an inning of batting practice on August 11 and then throw two innings of batting practice three days later.

Meek is looking at a late August reurn at the earlies, which is probably too late for the Pirates.
