Bringing Down The House: Reducing Representatives In Harrisburg
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) -- KDKA Radio's Mike Pintek talks with Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Sam Smith, R-Jefferson County, about his proposal to cut the number of Representatives in the House down from 203 to 153.
Governor Tom Corbett has expressed his support for such a measure, and believes it would pass if sent to Pennsylvania voters.
Smith's proposal is one of five discussed Tuesday before the State Government Committee on H.B. 153, all of which were aimed at reducing the number of House members.
Pintek asked Smith about the potential benefits and threats that a smaller House would offer, and why Smith thinks Pennsylvania's House - the second largest in the nation - needs to be trimmed.
