PITTSBURGH (SportsRadio 93-7 The FAN) — Pirates RHP Jeff Karstens joined the Seibel, Starkey, and Miller with Colin Dunlap filling in to talk about Pirates baseball in August.

Jeff Karstens talked about how big Charlie Morton’s performance was against the Giants in the first game of the series last night, saying it was great the team was able to help get runs for the win.

When asked about the mood in the clubhouse following the ten game losing streak, Karstens said they are still having fun and the team has not lost their confidence.

Jeff Karstens has already surpassed his numbers from last year in terms of starts and innings pitched, currently with 20 starts, and 130 innings.  He said in order to keep playing every five days, he just needs to remain mentally tough and continue preparing the way he has done all season.

The conversation ended with Karstens talking about how the 19-inning game in Atlanta has effected the team during their 20 game stretch late in the season.
