Paterno Continues To Land Big-Time Recruits

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Despite criticism that he's too old and should retire, Joe Paterno continues to attract big-time talent to Penn State.

Earlier this week, Penn State got verbal commitments from two top prospects and are expected to land another one today.

This morning, four-star defensive back/receiver Armani Reeves committed to Penn State at a 10 a.m. press conference.

Reeves, 5 feet 11 and 180 pounds, picked Penn State over Michigan and Notre Dame.

On Wednesday, four-star players Plymouth, Pa., wide receiver Euguene Lewis and Glen Ellyn (Ill.) defensive tackle Tommy Schutt committed to Paterno.

Schutt was the No. 1 ranked player in Illinois and the fifth ranked defensive tackle in the country. Aside from Penn State, he had offers from Auburn, Florida, Miami, Fla., Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Those three verbal commitments pushed them into the top 10 and all the way to #10 in the recruiting rankings, according to Scout.com.

The recent flurry has propelled the Lions past USC (24th), Michigan State (21st), Ohio State (20th) and Oklahoma (15th).

Thanks to 22 early verbal commitments, Michigan is ranked No. 1.
