PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) — Cornerback Ike Taylor broke his left thumb during the first quarter of the Steelers’ 16-7 preseason loss to the Washington Redskins on Friday night.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Taylor will likely need to have surgery for the injury.

Taylor was hurt on the game’s second play and left later during the Redskins opening drive.

The Post-Gazette reports that he is expected to be ready for the season opener on Sept. 11 in Baltimore.
