Local Church's Steeple Struck By Lightning
UPPER ST. CLAIR (KDKA) -- Lightning struck a church steeple in Upper St. Clair.
This happened at Westminster Presbyterian Church in the 2000-block of Washington Road.
Church officials say the steeple on the small chapel was hit – not the main church's steeple.
Two windows in the steeple were blown out. Crews covered up the damage with a tarp.
Dave Reiter, the church's business administrator, said they heard thunder.
"We saw a few pieces of the chapel roof exterior fall down onto the sidewalk," he said.
A childcare program inside the church was not affected by the damage.
