Use Of Deadly Force On Mercer Co. Suspect Justified

GREENVILLE (KDKA) – The use of deadly force on an armed-robbery suspect by police in Mercer County has been ruled as justified.

Mercer County District Attorney Robert Kochems has ruled that police were justified in shooting 30-year-old Jeffrey Anderson Jr.

This incident happened on College Avenue in Greenville Borough on July 27.

Members of the Mercer County Critical Incident Response Team were attempting to serve Anderson with an arrest warrant.

Kochems said the officers had reason to fear for their safety when Anderson began backing his car toward them.

Police fired a non-lethal bean bag from a shotgun, but when Anderson wouldn't stop, an officer shot him in the head.
