Man Drowns In Youghiogheny River

CONNELLSVILLE CITY (KDKA) – Officials are investigating after a man drowned in the Youghiogheny River Tuesday night.

The man was swimming at the Yough River Park in Connellsville City around 8 p.m.

There are conflicting reports that the man was either swimming with his girlfriend or with a group of friends.

According to a report in the Herald Standard, the victim has been identified as 23-year-old Joshua Friend, of Uniontown.

“I was coming here to go fishing. I [saw] a dive team from Scottdale coming to pull Josh out of the water. The officers were already there trying to help with flashlights on a boat,” Tyler Lombardo said.

Crews searched for about 30 minutes before they found Friend’s body.
