PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — The Pirates are hot again, Pedro Alvarez is back in Indianapolis and Pirates President Frank Coonelly joined the Vinnie and Cook show on SportsRadio 93-7 The Fan to give his thoughts on all the latest Bucco news.
Maybe the biggest story for the team over the past couple days was that they were able to sign their top two draft picks, Gerrit Cole and Josh Bell.
Coonelly discusses how the front office was able to make that happen. He also tells us about the decision to draft Bell in the second round even though it was well known that the super-talented outfielder planned to go to college.
Coonelly says that in addition to all the spending the Pirates are doing on draft picks, fans shouldn’t be surprised to see them add payroll to the major league club very soon as well.
He leaves us with some insight on the reports that the Pirates will be raising ticket prices next season and how that may affect the way the organization goes about improving the team.
