Pirates No. 2 Pick Josh Bell Comes To Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (SportsRadio 93-7 The FAN) -- Pirates No. 2 pick Josh Bell joined Seibel, Starkey, and Miller to talk about coming to the city of Pittsburgh.

Josh Bell said when he sent out his letter prior to the draft saying he would be attending college, he had no intention of talking to any MLB teams.  The Pirates continuously sent Bell emails and PowerPoint presentations showing how they develop their players to help convince Bell to join the organization.

Bell said when the Pirates offered him the 5 million dollar deal, he sat down with his parents and grandmother to discuss going to the Pirates versus college and came to the decision that was most beneficial to him in order to develop into the baseball player he wants to be.

Bell went on to talk about being a switch-hitter and said in his high school division there were many right-handed pitchers and so 13 of his 14 HR's were lefty.

Bell ended the conversation saying his first big purchase will be a birthday present for his dad as a thank-you for his help in developing him as a player.
