PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – When the PGA Nationwide Tour’s Mylan Classic gets underway, a couple of big names will be in the field.

According to a press release from event officials, John Daly and Rocco Mediate will compete in the tournament.

Mediate is a Greensburg native who has six wins on the PGA Tour during his 25-year career. In 2008, Mediate lost to Tiger Woods in a playoff at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.

His performance at the major tournament propelled him from 158th to 47th in the World Golf Rankings.

Daly is a two-time major champion and is known for his booming drives off the tee. However, he also has five career victories on the PGA Tour.

“We are extremely excited to have had two seasoned veterans of the PGA Tour commit to play in the Mylan Classic,”Southpointe Golf Club President Rodney L. Piatt said in a statement. “With Arnold Palmer as the Honorary Tournament Chairman and now Rocco and John competing in the event, this year’s tournament is really going to be special.”

The tournament will run from Sept. 1 to Sept. 4 at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, Pa.
