Matt Cooke: 'I Hurt My Teammates Last Year And I Know That'

PITTSBURGH (SportsRadio 93-7 The FAN) -- Penguins Winger Matt Cooke joined Joe Starkey and Josh Miller of Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about shooting out the first puck at tonight's Altoona Curve game, as well as what his off-season has been like coming off his suspension.

The main topic surrounding everyone associated with the Penguins right now is Sidney Crosby, and Cooke told us how the team hears about the latest status updates on their captain.  Matt said the team starting the year without Jordan Staal last year would help them be better prepared to start this season without Sidney Crosby because they learned how to make up for the absence of a superstar.

We also talked with Cooke about how excited he is to get back on the ice after serving a suspension to end his year last season.  When it came to how he felt about the suspension, Cooke said "I hurt my teammates last year and I know that"

Matt also addressed his time away from the team following his suspension and what he did to try to ensure that he doesn't hurt his teammates again.
