'Monroeville Madam' Faces New Charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The woman who became known as the Monroeville Madam for running an illegal escort service is in trouble with the law again.

Amy Schifano was arrested again Thursday afternoon and charged with prostitution.

It was back in 2005, when Schifano and her then boyfriend, former Pitt football player and former Raider John Robert Buczkowski, were charged with running an illegal escort service.

She pleaded guilty to the charge, as well as to selling cocaine, and was sentenced to three to six years in prison.

Then Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett said at the time, "This is a case that's about sex, drugs and money. Plain and simple."

This time around, Schifano was investigated after Pittsburgh Police received a call from the Pennsylvania State Board of Probation.

An undercover officer told KDKA: "They were concerned that one of their parolees was engaging in ongoing prostitution activities."

In court papers, police allege Schifano was advertising for prostitution on a website.

Police made and appointment with a woman known as "Rhiley" for $250. An undercover officer says he went to an apartment in a building along Brownsville Road in Carrick.

Schifano was arrested and charged with prostitution as well as possessing instruments of crime, namely a cell phone and condoms.

Schifano has had previous problems since her headline-making case. She was also arrested last year in Green Tree on a prostitution charge.
