Mac Miller Single Makes Frick Park Market Famous

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- So far, millions of people have watched Mac Miller's video on YouTube for his new single, "Frick Park Market."

Business there has been booming.

"That's thanks to Malcolm," Maggi Cook, owner of Frick Park Market, said. "Malcolm grew up in the neighborhood. He's had a tab here since he was old enough to walk here by himself."

Malcolm, better known as Mac Miller, immortalizes the local landmark in his new single.

"To me, this album is about where I come from and the people in my life that, you know, have been a part of my life, and the market has been part of my life," Miller said.

Miller's people shot the video just three weeks ago. Now, it boasts nearly 4 million YouTube hits and visitors from as far as New York are stopping by to pose with the prop sandwich or even the store's tab books.

Maggi says even after that long night of filming, even with 75 to 100 people in the store, everything was right back where they left it.

"And when they left, the street was swept, the sidewalk was clean, everything was put back into place, and you wouldn't even know they had a video here," she said.

"I remember when he used to rap when he was in middle school – I went to the same middle school as him too, so it's pretty cool seeing him blow up and everything," Enzo Bellisario, who works at the market, said.

As for the store, they're promising to name a sandwich in his honor.

"What I have on my sandwich is toast, with ham, egg salad, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese," Miller said.

"We wanted to help Malcolm and we wish him all the success," Maggi said. "We hope he and his crew are very successful."
