Flag Shop Designs Special Banners For 9/11

CASTLE SHANNON (KDKA) — A flag shop in Castle Shannon is raising funds for the Flight 93 memorial in Somerset County.

Cliff Ruderer, owner of The Flag Factory, designed a pair of flags to commemorate 9/11. The first is an array of stars in the shape of a “V”.

“It incorporates the colors of the U.S. flag and also represents ultimate victory,” Ruderer said.

His second flag is a simple design with a poignant message.

“We wanted it to represent all three of the sites that were involved in 9/11.

“The nine is made up of the pentagon shape which is for the Pentagon and the center of the nine is the keystone which is the symbol of Pennsylvania to represent Shanksville.

“And of course, the 11 are the twin towers of the World Trade Center,” Ruderer explained.

The Flag Factory will donate $9.11 to the Shanksville memorial project for each 9/11 flag it sells.

From a grateful American, thank you for your compassion and caring. As we approach the 10 year anniversary of that horrible day, we will reflect on the lessons that have been learned from that tragedy. Never forget what happened on September 11, 2001.
