Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The next time Steeler fans will see Ben Roethlisberger will be on September 11th vs. the Baltimore Ravens.

Head coach Mike Tomlin announced today that Roethlisberger won’t dress Thursday vs. the Carolina Panthers.

Veteran Charlie Batch will get the start which likely means he’ll start the season as Roethlisberger’s backup.

Also declared out for the exhibition finale are cornerback Ike Taylor, wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery and rookie linebacker Chris Carter.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports safety Troy Polamalu, linebacker James Farrior, nose tackle Casey Hampton, center Maurkice Pouncey and cornerback Bryant McFadden are also likely to not play.

Thursday’s game at Carolina can be seen on KDKA-TV with kickoff set for 8 pm.
