Woman Charged In Connection To Elderly Woman’s Death To Stand Trial

WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) — The woman who is facing charges in connection with last month’s stabbing death of an elderly woman in Washington County has been held for trial.

Diane McClelland, 48, was arrested last week. She was in court this afternoon for a preliminary hearing.

The victim, 92-year-old Evelyn Stepko, was stabbed in her Coal Center home back on July 18.

McClelland is the wife and stepmother of the other two suspects – David A. McClelland and David J. McClelland.

Police say 56-year-old David A. McClelland is accused of burglarizing Stepko’s home in the past. He has been ordered to stand trial as well.

Authorities also charged his son, 36-year-old David J. McClelland, who is on leave from his job as police officer in Washington Township, Fayette County.

Diane McClelland is facing charges of conspiracy and hindering apprehension.
