1 Wounded In New Kensington Shooting

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) -- One man has been hospitalized after gunfire rang out Sunday evening in New Kensington, Westmoreland County.

According to neighbors, the victim was shot multiple times while on a porch with his daughter at the corner of Leishman Avenue and Walnut Street. The shooting happened shortly after 7 p.m.

Neighbors say the victim, who has not yet been identified, was conscious and talking to investigators at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities reportedly took away some people from the home next door in a police car. They were taken in for questioning.

KDKA's Ralph Iannotti reports that just five to 10 minutes after that shooting, more shots were reportedly fired in a nearby alleyway. No one was hit in that shooting, according to neighbors.

Police remained on the scene late Sunday night talking to witnesses and collecting shell casings.

Westmoreland County detectives and New Kensington police continue to investigate the shooting.
