Local Woman Injured By W. Va. Man On Crime Spree Recovering

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- A local woman run over by a West Virginia man on a crime spree remains in the hospital.

Sydney Bush, 58, is recovering from broken bones at Uniontown Hospital. She was injured in a hit-and-run accident Monday in Fairchance, Fayette County.

State police say 22-year-old Shayne Riggleman was behind the wheel of the car that struck her.

"She has a broken ankle, she has a broken leg, a broken knee, elbow and wrist – all on her left side," Torra Robinson, the victim's daughter, said.

Bush was injured when Riggleman rear-ended her car on Route 857, made a U-turn and struck her again.

She was outside her vehicle trying to get help.

"He hit her full speed," Robinson said. "He hit her – her whole body took the impact of that vehicle and she hit the wall. I mean, I'm just glad she's here."

Riggleman is suspected of killing five people, including a pregnant woman, inside a house just outside of Morgantown, W. Va.

He also shot and critically injured a gas station attendant in Roane County, W. Va. before apparently shooting himself after leading police on a chase in northern Kentucky.

Robinson says her mother is devastated.

"He didn't care that she had kids, he didn't care that she had grandkids, he just didn't care," she said. "He had no regard for life at all. I mean, just let God have mercy on his soul."
