Report: Pirates To Extend Huntington

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The Pirates are reportedly bringing back Neal Huntington to be the team's general manager for next season.

Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated is reporting that the team will announce the extension after the upcoming season.

Heyman mentions that the only reason it hasn't happened yet is that the team wanted to wait until after the trade deadline and the amateur signing period to pass.

The Pirates currently have an 8 game improvement over their record from 2010 and are on pace to win 74 games.

Huntington's greatest strength and the reason for this reported extension is the job he's done drafting over the last 3 seasons. Adding players like Gerrit Cole, Josh Bell, Jameson Taillon, Luis Heredia, Stetson Allie has earned him praise throughout baseball.
