State Police: Man Shot During Burglary In North Charleroi

NORTH CHARLEROI (KDKA) -- State police are investigating after a man was wounded during a reported burglary in Washington County Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred just after 1 p.m. at a home on Isabella Avenue in North Charleroi Borough.

Investigators have identified the victim as 22-year-old Carmen Cappelli.

According to state police, Cappelli was upstairs when he reported hearing someone inside his home.

When he went downstairs, state police say Cappelli reported seeing a man - described as a white male who was about six-feet tall.

Cappelli said he then suffered a gunshot wound to his right calf.

The victim reported that the suspect got away at the rear of the home, state police said.

Officials say Cappelli was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for treatment.
