Man Serving Time For Molesting Girls Faces New Charges

MOON TWP. (KDKA) -- A man from Moon Township who is already serving time for molesting four young girls was back in court on Tuesday to face more charges.

Edward Brandyberry Jr., is already serving time for assaulting four girls ranging in age from 11 to 15.

In return for a guilty plea on the latest allegations, today a judge agreed to drop the most serious charge of aggravated indecent assault against Brandyberry.

Brandyberry will be sentenced for the charges at a later date; but his attorney says that case will likely be added to his existing sentence.

"Edward decided to waive his case to criminal court today. In exchange, the Commonwealth agreed to withdraw the most serious charge he was facing – the felony of the first degree the aggravated indecent assault. As a result, we'll work out some kind of strategy when we get downtown regarding the remaining felonies of the third-degree," defense attorney Matt Ness said.

Brandyberry is currently serving 7- to-14 years for the previous cases.

His wife presented a letter he had written from his prison cell, which indicated that he had sexually assaulted another child.

It was a story she initially recanted at the time.

In the letter presented by his wife he wrote in part:

"In (victim's) case, I made her confide in me…

That is called grooming, which is considered an act of being an aggressor.

So out of all of the charges from her, I am guilty of endangering the welfare of a child.

I am sorry that this happened, but it happened."
