Man Wounded In New Castle Shooting Dies

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) -- Police in New Castle say the man who was wounded in a shooting Tuesday night near the Crestview Apartment Complex has died from his injuries.

According to the New Castle Police Department, 35-year-old Zarmara Stelter died early this morning after suffering a gunshot wound to his head.

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 1100-block of Pin Oak Drive.

New Castle police say witnesses reported that a crowd gathered in the area after a fight broke out between two women.

Investigators say Stelter was attempting to break up the fight when he was shot.

He was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.

Officials say no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
