Crews Round Up Runaway Barge On Mon River

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — River rescue crews and the Coast Guard were called out overnight to round up a runaway barge on the Monongahela River.

According to emergency officials, the barge broke loose around 1 a.m. and began floating out of control down the Mon River.

Officials say it happened near the Hot Metal & Birmingham Bridges.

The barge did not run into anything and crews managed to secure it a short time later.
