Pickup Truck Slams Into Baldwin Home

BALDWIN (KDKA) -- A driver was taken to the hospital and a homeowner was left shaken up late Thursday night after a pickup truck careened into a Baldwin home.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. in the 600-block of Glass Run Road.

The homeowner described the crash as a "big boom," shaking her entire home.

For all the noise it created though, authorities say there was minimal structural damage to the home. However, the damage to the truck was significant.

"Just a big boom," said Mary Ellen Valles, the homeowner. "The whole house shook, knocked off pictures on my wall and the cats went running. I was watching TV and the next thing you know, I heard a big boom and I came running out and the lady was trying to leave."

Authorities have not identified the woman who was driving. She reported hitting the steering wheel during the crash and was complaining of chest pain.

She was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment.

The homeowner said a similar crash happened at her home a few years ago.
