Malkin then scored a goal set up by defensemen Carl Sneep and Paul Martin in the second. The Pens took a 3-1 lead on Matt Niskanen's slap shot goal during the power play.

Jiri Hurdler's tip-in at 2:32 in the third made it 3-2.
