Rushel Shell On "The UPMC Centers For Rehab Services High School Football Show"

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Hopewell senior tailback Rushel Shell joined 93.7 The Fan's John Phillips Saturday to discuss his historic performance at Tony Dorsett Stadium Friday night, in which he eclipsed the WPIAL career rushing yardage record previously set by Fort Cherry's Mike Vernillo in 1999.

Rushel explains why the record was not necessarily top of mind for him coming into this game, and who he credits the most for his individual success. He talks about his goals for his senior season, and whether he believes he has a realistic chance to further rewrite local and national record books.

In addition, Rushel talks about his recruiting journey, and whether or not he is willing to give any hints as to his college choice. It has been reported by multiple sources he is weighing (or, possibly, has already weighed) Pitt, Alabama, and Oregon.

Shell gained 205 yards on 32 carries in Friday's 27-20 non-conference win over visiting Mount Lebanon, scoring three touchdowns, including the game-winner. He now stands sixth all-time in PIAA football history and 41st all-time nationally with 7,718 career rushing yards.
